But Is Your Spouse Supposed to Meet All Your Needs?

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (NIV).

Prayer: Thank the Lord for imperfections (unmet desires) in your marriage because they drive you to ultimately depend on Him. Ask Him to help you open yourselves to the peace and contentment that only His presence can provide.

Action: Each of you could take time this week to assess how much you depend on each other. Can you see the line between healthy dependency on his love and her respect, and asking too much of each other? Then come together to compare notes and talk about “needing each other” but ultimately depending on the Lord. (For discussion questions, see page 259 in Appendix A.)
