Proverbs 15:13
When the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.
Prayer: Thank the Lord for the wisdom in proverbs 15:13, a wisdom that enables you to discern that sometimes when a heart is sad, something deeper is going on in that person’s spirit. Ask for guidance in always looking for the real issue—are you giving each other love and respect? (You may want to add some time for prayer for issues involving your children right now. Ask for the wisdom to discern the real issue—somebody may be feeling unloved or disrespected.)
Action: When you have an issue that is getting out of hand, one of you can say, “I feel the Crazy Cycle coming on. Let’s discuss this quietly and not let it turn into one of us feeling unloved or disrespected.” (For discussion questions, see page 232 in appendix A.)
